View Full Version : RSS feed widget!

The Mechanical Design Forum now has a RSS feed (http://www.mechanicaldesignforum.com/forum/syndication.php?t=2). The RSS feed dynamically streams all the latest posts from the forum, and what's really cool about it is that it can be viewed in a number of ways:

You can either view it in its raw state here (http://www.mechanicaldesignforum.com/forum/syndication.php?t=2), or if you're really clever you can subscribe to it via Outlook or via other email software. I think you can even add it to your Google homepage. And if you're one of those really cool people with a fancy phone I believe you can actually make it appear on that too!

Most importantly, the RSS feed can also be viewed through the funky little "widget" you see below. You can actually embed this exact widget into your own blog or website. Please do this if you can - it will be both handy for you and great for our traffic ;)

INSTRUCTIONS: To add the widget to your website or blog, all you need to do it cut 'n' paste the code. To get the code, just click the "options" button on the widget and it will let you have it in a variety of formats to suit any situation! Please note that you can change the dimensions of the widget by editing the "width" and "height" dimensions in the code - it's really simple.

Finally - another neat new development - I've set things up so that our Twitter (http://twitter.com/MechDesignForum) account so that it "autotweets" links to new posts on the forum. This should maximise our audience, and hopefully get even more members.

Additionally, please note that the RSS feed I've been talking about (above) makes life simple by just displaying the most recent post for a topic.

For people who want a more comprehensive feed, the ATOM (http://www.mechanicaldesignforum.com/forum/feed.php) feed is the one for you. This is a chronological list of EVERY single post.
